Read Conmigo Grant Program
Advancing dual-language education for bilingual students
The Kemper Foundation’s Read Conmigo Grant Program aims to advance dual-language (Spanish-English) education for bilingual students in under-resourced communities. By providing grants to educators and schools, the program enhances bilingualism and biliteracy, supports academic achievement, and fosters multicultural understanding. Together, these grants significantly impact Hispanic and Latino students, helping them develop the critical skills needed to thrive in an increasingly interconnected and globally inclusive world.
The Read Conmigo Educator Grants provide $3,000 to educators in dual-language (Spanish-English) programs at public and charter elementary schools. The Read Conmigo School Impact Grants provide $10,000 to Title I public and charter elementary schools for school- or program-wide dual-language (Spanish-English) initiatives.
The Kemper Foundation is proud to support teachers and schools in the education, inspiration, and success of Hispanic and Latino children.
The Kemper Scholars Program
Developing the next generation of leaders
Since 1948, the Kemper Scholars Program has been preparing college students for leadership and service in the business world. The program has awarded over 2,000 scholarships to help students develop into strong leaders with rewarding careers. Today, the Kemper Scholars Program has evolved to provide need-based scholarships, mentoring, and career navigation resources to assist high potential, diverse college students with a strong interest in insurance and financial services careers.
In 2022, The Kemper Foundation announced it was committing $4.5 million to the next generation of its Kemper Scholars Program. The program will award 650 scholarships over the next five years to high-achieving, diverse college students at 10 universities, including six Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs). The program also provides financial grants to professors pursuing academic initiatives and to on-campus diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) programs. In addition, The Kemper Foundation will partner with Kemper Corporation to offer over 325 internships to partner schools over the next five years.
